Wish me LOOK

A slight change from the usual today but hopefully you’ll like it just the same.

I’m sure you’ve all heard about LOOK magazine’s blogger competition, whether that’s because you’re a follower of last year’s winner LLYMLRS (who doesn’t love her?) or because you’ve entered yourself. If you don’t know about it…actually I’m not telling you, I don’t want any competition ;)

Here’s my entry (when you all crossed your eyelashes for us viewing/obtaining our new flat it seemed to work really well so if you could do that again it’d be much appreciated!)…

Why should I be on the front row at The Look Show AW11?

  • I love fashion: wouldn’t be much point in entering this if I didn’t would there? I’m not a UK size 6, super long-limbed, über-gorgeous blogger – I’m your average girl who has a passion. But I think that makes me more relatable, or at least I hope so!

  • I love photography and also have a media production degree which includes modules in video production, post production and computer graphics. Yep, I’m a creative melting pot – but bloggers have to be multi-skilled!
  • I also love to write: when I was little I made up the most cringeworthy stories and also illustrated them myself. If I win I promise to dig one out (my mama bear is a hoarder) and post some scans of it!

  • I relish the fact that fashion bloggers put themselves under pressure – but it’s a good kind. What I mean is that if I don’t want to post then I don’t have to but 1) I just love to, and 2) if I don’t push myself I’ll get nowhere and I’ll only have myself to blame. I am driven, ambitious and focused: I want my blog to succeed and I have to make it so by myself.
  • I have big dreams for my blog and the exposure I would gain from winning this competition would give me such an amazing footing for helping me to realise them!

p.s. I love you really!

If you do want to enter this competition (grr!) pop over to the LOOK magazine website quick because it’s only open for entries until 15th August!

Site issue – 28.7.11 p.m.

It has been brought to my attention that there are some issues with my site at present – to rectify them I have had to change the structure of my permalinks which may affect some of my links. If you’re struggling to find a post don’t forget there’s a search bar in the footer, along with a list of recent posts and also my categories.

I am working to rectify this permanently as soon as possible so please bear with me, I hope you’ll be back soon to catch up on any posts you can’t access right now!

Thanks, Becky x

EDIT 29.7.11: These issues have now been fixed.

Girls Meets Dress: Stylist Picks

A couple of weeks ago Girl Meets Dress asked if I’d take part in the new section of their “GMD Daily” blog. My task was both simple and fun, so of course I said yes!

What is Girl Meets Dress?

Simply put, Girl Meets Dress is a designer dress rental service.

There are no joining fees and prices start at £29 to borrow a dress for 2 nights. You can book dresses weeks/months in advance or for last minute events there is also an Emergency Next Day Delivery service.

There are 3 membership options: no membership, £39 per month to rent any one dress every month for £39, or £60 per month for benefits including 20% off all orders and priority access to new dresses (this option is discounted to £40 if sign up when you order a dress!).

Best of all designers to choose from include 3.1 Philip Lim, Halston Heritage, Yves Saint Laurent, Hérve Léger and Krystof Strozyn (browse Designers A-Z).

Links à la Mode: The IFB Weekly Roundup

It’s always such an honour to be chosen as part of the “Links à la Mode: The IFB Weekly Roundup” list. Even more so when the person choosing which posts to feature is a blogger I respect as much as the lovely Vahni (thank you Vahni!).

As I only usually post once per day just a little nudge to read my post from yesterday evening, “Life isn’t a dress rehearsal” – I shared some pretty big news!

Ask and you shall receive

Edited by Vahni of Grit & Glamour

This blogging thing…it’s been around a while now, and many are realizing what a rewarding endeavor it is, on a sartorial and psychological level. One thing I love about blogging is the opportunity to ask a question, ponder a theory—and have others share their thoughts and opinions as well. In this week’s roundup, several bloggers reflect on the positive influence blogging has had on their lives and self-esteem. (Superb! Yay for blogging!) Others ruminated on everything from whether style is really subjective, to whether fashion as an exhibit is a trend. Or not.
