Selfridges White Christmas 2011 launch
When I received the email inviting me to the Selfridges & Co. White Christmas 2011 launch I believe I squealed aloud.
As a massive fan of the British institution that is Selfridges I enjoy shopping there year-round, but I particularly look forward to the holiday atmosphere that a Selfridges Christmas brings – and of course those world famous festive windows on Oxford Street.
As a newbie to the world of fashion events I find it a bit odd (although understandable) that all of the stores hold their Christmas events in July – although the crap weather we’re having at the moment does seem almost autumnal so I suppose it’d be even weirder if it actually felt like summer!
It was a really fantastic event and I met some lovely people, notably Emma of Fashion Mommy and Lee who recently founded Manchester’s Finest. Head over and have a peek at their websites – after you’ve finished reading this post of course :)
The launch was held on the lower ground floor in the Ultralounge. The space had been decked out with Christmas trees, faux snow, and table-upon-table of gifts and gadgets for us to pore over.
I spent a good hour wandering around so here are a few snaps that I took, in-between sampling a delicious Malibu cocktail (made with the new Winter Edition Malibu) and trying – and becoming addicted to – Pinkberry frozen yoghurt (launching in the Food Hall on 3rd August).
AW11 womenswear: close up
The AW11 pieces dotted around the Ultralounge were so luxurious – I couldn’t resist getting up close to take a few photos of the details.
There were also some beautiful winter coats for your man/Dad, so add them to your shopping list for his Christmas present!
Tokyo Lash Bar
Tokyo Lash Bar were also there applying some of their individual Flare false eyelashes in black. I just had to try them! Despite my best efforts to not wash them off that night they came away as I was using my toner (sad face) and my eyes have felt bare without them ever since. I need the kitten-eyes they gave me every day for the rest of my life. Officially my new beauty must-have.
There was also a nail bar but before I knew it we’d run out of time and were whisked to Hix for lunch (so hardly dragged kicking and screaming then).
Lunch at Hix restaurant
Hix Restaurant and Champagne Bar is located on a mezzanine level accessed from a winding staircase on the ground floor near the Mulberry and Chanel concessions.
The menu features fancier items such as oysters however you can also find more simple fare such as fish fingers with chips and mushy peas. The restaurant also offers a classic Sunday roast dinner, and of course you could always just pop in for a glass of champers or an Afternoon Tea. I had one of the Thai specials, a mouth-watering roasted chicken with salad. And as it was ‘Christmas’ we all had a glass of champagne :)
I know this is probably the longest post in the history of blogging but as you can see we had a completely amazing day and I left with so much to share!
If you missed my post about what we got up to after lunch (yes there was more), click here to read about the Truvia Voyage of Discovery.

My idea of heaven, soooo envious you got to go. I used to get 25% off everything at Selfridges through work, yes 25%!!!!!!
