Whistles AW10 lookbook

I got an email today from the press team at iconic British brand Whistles – not only was it exciting to receive their AW10 lookbook and pour over the gorgeous pieces they’ve created, but I was also thrilled to have received my first ever spontaneous email from a brand!

Whistles was created in the 1980s but since ex-Topshop director Jane Shepherdson bought a share and became Chief Exec, the brand’s reputation has really gone from strength to strength: the style has morphed from pretty, yummy Mummy, to classic with a modern twist.

I’m LOVING the trench cape. But of course my favourite single item is the aviator jacket, which will retail at £595.

This Donnie parka (£150) is also amazing, and looks ridiculously cosy – yet still sexy! Oxymoron or what?!

The whole collection is simply beautiful: classic items well worth investing in, yet still so now. What I really love about these looks is their wearability. So often styling focuses simply on looking amazing – and of course that’s what we love it for. But I think it’s so important for a brand to show potential customers how the clothes can work in our day-to-day lives. After all winter is cold! Heels aren’t always practical!

Born in the USA

After seeing the gorgeous photoshoot that Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere did for Planet Blue, I had to give their website a visit.I’d not come across the brand before but love the laid-back Californian vibe, conjuring images of relaxing on the beach with friends and stuffing yourself with candy floss.

Whilst Emily’s lookbook is impossibly gorgeous, as a self-confessed Yankophile I absolutely love Born in the USA.
